KDEBWM General Manager of Corporate Services, Ahmad Rizal Mohd Daud, had asked for the patience and cooperation of local residents while they launch a garbage collection operation in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) and Bumi Segar Indah Sdn Bhd.

“We will make sure to collect all the garbage in every area that we enter, we hope that the local residents can bear with us.”

“As of last Wednesday, we have collected 400 tonnes of rubbish and accumulated a total of 800 tonnes on Thursday. We expect the transfer of rubbish from the Section 21 Solid Waste Transfer Station to Jeram Sanitary Landfill, Kuala Selangor will be completed within a week,” he said after inspecting the Section 21 Solid Waste Transfer Station, today.

Ahmad Rizal said the 4.24 hectare Section 21 Solid Waste Transfer Station was a temporary garbage collection point from Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya with 300 staff including lorry drivers, garbage handlers and traffic controllers.

He said KDEBWM had 500 roro barrels, 110 lorries including two 44-tonne lorries and eight 10-tonne lorries and would add-on five more 44 -tonne lorries in the near future to bring rubbish to Jeram.

“Cooperation from all parties is very important in order to speed up the collection of rubbish from flood-affected areas so that lorries can make more frequent collection rounds,” he said. – BERNAMA
